Jone our Fijian friend rushed to Hospital

Jone was recently whisked away to the main island hospital by the President of the Savusavu Rotary Club Jeff Mather. He had an infection penetrating into his pelvic bone and has spent 24 days in the hospital trying to restore his kidneys back to normal and stop Sepsis from ending his life.

I am happy to report that Jone has recovered and is back with his village and family. Jeff has been checking in on him with dressings and swabs of his wounds to insure that infection does not develop again.

Fortunately he is free of infection but unfortunately the village water supply has been completely down for the past 24 hours (an intake and storage problem). Alison and I are headed over to Savusavu for a week and will meet with Jeff and fellow Rotarians to look into the water situation, take some photos of our project and get the latest scoop.

Jeff says there are still a few odds and ends to complete to finish the home. The electricity is not up and running as of yet. Alison is trying to get some footrests for Jone's wheel chair.

I will post some photos when I get back.

Moce,

Mark Payne
